Improve Conflict Management

The truth about conflict.

Mahatma Gandhi said, “Peace is not the absence of conflict, but the ability to cope with it.”

Everyone, and I mean everyone, experiences conflict.  You can’t really avoid but many people will do almost anything to avoid becoming involved in conflict.  This might seem like pursuing an easier life, but really, it creates more problems.  It ensures that conflicts are never truly resolved and this brings internal disharmony and disappointment, resentment, and reduced self-esteem and confidence.

Conflict is not something to avoid, it creates opportunity and growth, conflict is something to embrace and growth; it is something to embrace.

Conflict is everywhere
Damaging conflict

Facing a conflict? Read this.

It’s not uncommon for people enter a conflict and become enemies.  If corporations disagree they can set out to destroy each other, if countries enter conflict they can start wars.  Conflict can be devastating but it doesn’t need to be.

Conflict starts with people, the individuals involved.  Self-awareness is a starting point, but understanding how conflict can be solved can take the conflict on a different direction.

Learn how to resolve conflict easily.

Good conflict management is an immeasurably important life skill… and you can learn how to do it.

There are two keys: one is to be psychologically aware of yourself and the other person; the other is to have a format that will allow you to progress through a series of known steps that will create a solution.

The key to resolving conflict.

Going into a conflict believing that you ‘are right’ accentuates conflict. Being aware of your own thoughts and feelings, having an awareness of the other person’s thoughts and feelings, and having an open mind are the fundamental keys that create the solutions you desire.

This is all about having a different attitude.  An attitude that looks forward to solving differences, and understanding that the best solutions will ensure that everyone should ‘win’ something provides the best outcomes.  People whose attitude takes them on this journey can even look forward to a deepening of the relationships that follow.

People solving a problem
People create win-win solution

A win-win transformation.

Conflict starts with two people who have different ideas. The best outcomes come from not trying to ensure that your idea prevails, they come from developing a third idea that involves both people working together.  The two ideas can be transformed into a new idea.

This new idea should bring something else, something that benefits both people.  Conflict allows both people to win – the much sought after win-win outcome of great conflict management. Even better, relationships are often strengthened by this process – the complete opposite of the toxicity that many people’s experience of conflict.
