It sounds like it should be easy, but self-awareness is a rare skill.  People can drown in their own emotion-driven interpretations of life. Self-awareness allows you to reflect on your own thoughts, feelings and behaviours.  Then, if required, you can change course.

While they are different concepts, they are linked.  When someone’s self-awareness improves, their self-esteem grows. Self-esteem creates self-worth, confidence, and is central to improved relationships.

A lack of self-awareness makes it hard for people to resolve conflict. Self-awareness creates an opportunity; it allows participants to be aware of their own motivations and, to be more aware of the other person’s drivers too.
